Mr. CONNELL advised that he had one of their cards in front of hin
and that the name of NOBLE DREW, 950 Hudson Street, Chicago, Illinois, appeared

Interview was had «-“th State's Attorney WILLIA. CONNELL, who advised
that he was notified of the above matter the day before by Mayor JOHN N. MOORE,
Pulaski, Illinois, who is Chairman of the onal Defense of Pulaski
County, Illinois, who brought with him on wife, both colored, of
Pulaski, Illinois, ined instant organisation at the behest of subject
WASHINGTON; that bot d wife are ignorant, and they brought with them
the robe, fez, membership card, and badges which subject WASHINGTON had supplied
them; that both stated that they never knew subject WASHINGTON Prior to the tim

ed and obtained their badges, membership cards, and booklete; —
so paid the required fee and obtained one of the robes and a fess
stated that he was told by subject WASHINGTON that this organization was
for the betterment of the colored race and thet the present war was a war between
the white and colored races; that when the Japs take over this country that those
who are members of instant organization will not be molested; that subject WASH-
INGTON also told all the negroes with whom he talked that the terms negro, black
man, colored man, and kindred names wera names given the colorad meonle by the
white man but that they were not negroes but Asiatics; thet also stated
that subject WASHINGTON charged him for each article furnished and that to the
Present time he has paid him $16.90; that WAS=INGTON stated he did not know that
it was a religious sect he was joining until a few days ago when subject WASHING-
TON made the at his home that there was no God; that ALLAH was the God,
after which who is quite devoted to the colored Baptist Church, tore up
his robe and informed subject WASHINGTON that he would not be a member my longer.
State's Attorney CONNELL further stated that Agent should interview
Mayor JOHN N. MOOPE of Pulaskt, Illinois, for further information, and in case
the robe and other articles in his possession are desired, he will be glad to
turn same over to the Bureau.
