The jail docket of the Neshoba County Sheriff's
Office, Philadelphia, Mississippi, was reviewed at which time
4t was ascertained the docket shows that JAMES E. CHANEY,
a Negro male, was arrested by Deputy Sheriff CECIL PRICE
for speeding on June 21, 1964, and that CHANEY paid a $20
fine and was released on June 21, 1964. The docket also.
shows that MICHAEL SCHWERNER, a white male, and aNDREW
GOODMAN, a white male, were arrested June 21, 1964, by
Deputy Sheriff CECIL PRICE, and held for investigation,
being réleased June 21, 1964. No times of arrest or release
were reflected in the jail docket.
