FAUBION BOWERS On May 22, 1957, a confidential source, who has furnished reliable information in the past, advised that Enver N. Mamedov, Chief a Ate of the magazine, "USSR," informed s. Santha u, who is also known as Mrs. Faubio wers, that the visas for her, her husband, Faubiofi/Bowers, her son, and her helper, not further # identified, for travel to the Soviet Union were ready fe and all they have to do to prepare for the trip is ob- tain their travel vouchers from the American Express : Company. The source advised that Mamedov believed the visas were not for any specified period of time and he % was certain that wher the Bowers arrived in the Soviet oy Union they could extend the visas for as long a time as pl is necessary. Mamedov suggested that the Bowers get in oo touch with representatives of Voks and the Writers Union riz in the Soviet Union and these individuals would go out | of their way to help the Bowers. The source said that | Mrs. Bowers indicated that they would travel by ship and would leave on August 16, 1957. Y The source also advise# that M dov indicated that he and his wife, Tamara Y/Mamedova/ had received an invitation from an individual named Leg&*Strasburg. Mrs. Bowers said Strasburg was an important individual in the New York theatre world and she strongly suggested that Mamedov and his wife attend the affair. Mrs. Bowers said that in any event Mamedov should attempt to attend e a G3 affair inasmuch as the famed movie actress MarilynMionroe arenes would be present.
