The March 13, 1964, edition of the “New York Times,“
a daily newspaper published in New York, New York, contained an
item on page 20, which reflected that Malcolm X, the former head
of the Nation of Islam (NOI) Mosque in Kew York, had broken
with the NOI and Elijah Muhammad on March 8, 1964, and that
on March 12, 1964, had announced he would form his own mosque
in New York and it would be a meeting place for his Muslim
followers as well as the base of a political oriented
Black Nationalist Movement.
