WORKERS WORLD PARTY
On April 17, 1959, a sovrce edvised that on February 12,
1959, 2 Soctalist Worters Party (SWP) minority group, under the
leadership of National Comittee memver SAM BALLAN, knoym in the
SWP as SAM MARCY, split from the SWRay |
The source stated that this minority group, referred
to as the Marcyites, after many years of prograa and policy
differences on varied issues concerning tactics and interpretation
of political events, split frem the SWP on the grounds that the
Party was liquidating iteel’ by departing from the Marxist precepttr
of Leon Trotsky and retreating from the fight for the world social-
ist revolution. The final issue which ultimately ferced the
spiit was the minority's opposition to the SWP regrounment policy -
which involved cooperation with the Commmist Farty (CP) p2riphery~
individuals characterized by the minority as petty-bourgesl 0 )

the unconditional defense of the Soviet Union and has as its goal
the building of a revolutionary party with a coumlete proletarian
orientation for the purpose of overthrowing capitalism in the
