"The Pittsburgh Courier" in its issue cf January 17, 1959, section two, page one, columns cne and twe, carried an article captioned “Malcolm X to Speak on Harlem's WLIB,." This article reflected that MALCOLM X, fiery young New York representative of Moslem spirituel leader ELIJAH MUHAMMAD, was slated to speak on the "Rapid Grewth of Islam in America and Its Aims for 1959" over Harlem station WLIB at 11:30 Saturday morning, January 17, 1959, on the program "I'he Editor Speake." The "St. Louls Argus," a weekly newspaper published in St. Louis, Missourt, in ita fasue of January 30, 1959, carried an article captioned "Religion Must Not Be Separate - = Muslim Says." The article reflected that Moslem Minister MALCOLM © on the Harlem station WLIB on Saturday morning stated "If religion means a way of life and life's necessities are food, cluthing and shelter, then we should not separete religion from economics." The article further quoted MALCOLM X as saying "Christianity offers Negroes itz occnemic program of 'milk and honey? (foo4), white robes and golden siipgers (clothing) and mansions (shelter) up in the sky after they die - - whereas Elijah Muhammad teaches us that in Islam we can get all of life's necessities right hereon earth in this iife if we will awaken, unite and put forth the necessary efforts.
