READING, Pa., Aug. 28.—Air Na-
tional Guard officers and control
tower operators of the C “41
Aeronautics Administration today
“cleared up” the latest‘flying saucer
mystery, as evolved in the skies over
rks county last Monday.
The saucers, seen by a large num-
| of persons at that time, a
{spokesman said, were vapor trails
of a B-36 inter-continental bomber
and a jet plane. which CAA tower-
men said were flying at an altitude
of 40,000 to 45,000 feet.
The jet left a bigzag trail as it
dived in on the big bomber in a
mock interception attack. The
spokesman said such air shows were
frequent when atmospheric condi-
tions were right for the hot exhausts
from engines to freeze at high alti-
tude.
The big: bombers, the spokesman
xplained, often fly far out over the
cean, and when they approach the
quent, to keep interceptor teams on
the alert.
The aerial display on Monday was
witnessed by hundreds of Guards-
men of the 112th Fighter Wing,
Pennsylvania-Maryland Air WNa-
tional Guard, as well as officers who
watched the maneuvers through
binoculars.
Air National Guard Officers sai
the report submitted by Harry Fein

the jet which he saw diving on the
bomber.
