Reference is made to the letter from this office
to the Bureau dated August 6, 1935, a copy of which was forvarded to
land the VYashington Field Office, relative to subjects
Buchalter and Shapiro, who were reported to have gone to surope in
violation of the terms of their bail bonds in this case, as a result
of which the two cases in which they are defendants were placed on
the Court Celendar for call as to them on August 12, 19356

telephoned Mr, Law's office and, in the latter's absence, recuested yl
the reporting agent to inform Mr. Law that he had written to both of
his clients instructing them to call at his office, and that subject
Shapiro infomaed_ him he vould be in court on August 12, 1935, Subject
Buchalter's however, telephoned him and said that puchalter
had gone to Surope with and was not ex-
pected to return for six or seven WeekS.
On August 9, 1935 a teletyne message was transnit-
ted to the ¥ashington Field Office containing the addresses end des-
eriptions of subjects Buchalter and Shapiro for use in efforts to
determine whether or not passports had been issued to these sudjects.

in the files of the Bureau of Criminal Identification of the New York
City Police Department, follow: ;
