LILLIAN HELIMAN was one of the sponsors of the New Years Eve
Ball December 31, 1938, which was given for the benefit of Political Refugees
to deliver them from Nazi terror, at the Hotel Riverside Plaza, New York City,
under the auspices of the Non-Gecretarian Committee for Politica] Refugees,
according to a leaflet distributed by this organisetiong It has been reported
to the Bureau that this Committee was organized by the Internationsl] Labor
Defense, which is allegedly Commnist in nature,

LOLLIAN HELIMAN was a member of the Editorial Council of "Kquality*® magazine,
which magazine was carrying on a fight against anti-Catholic, anti-Negro, and
anti-Gemitic groups in the United States, The magazine wes to be a mon
publication and the first issue was to appear Imrch 22, 1939. It has been
alleged that it is a Communist front publication,
The Merch 20, 1939 issue of the Daily Worker also contained an
item stating that LILLIAN HELIMAN was cone of the directors of "History Today
Incorporated®, which sponsored the fila "The Four Million® showing Chinese
heroics fight against Japanese agression,g The picture wes distributed by
GARRISON FILMS INCORPORATED and was the second in a series aponsored by "Hime
tory Today Incorporated” in an effort to bring Progressive films to the
screens of Ansrica,
