"Yov. 4, 1967 “I B make the following free and voluntary statement to ia bIC tree eho have identified them- selves as Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. “This morning (November 4, 1967) I was on official duty at the Federal Examiners Office, at the rear of the Post Office, Belle Chasse, Louisiana, functioning as & Federal Examiner in Plaquemines Parish under the 1965 Woting Rights Act. ‘at approximately 6:45 AK three (3) white males came into the office. I recognized one (1) male as Leandre Perez. One of the other men was later referred to as by Perez. I did not recognize the third man. As the: men entered the office, Perez said ‘I am Tom Hicks‘ or possibly he referred to himself by saying *y am Jim Hicks". Perez then asked ‘Are you people registering people to vote today?" 7 replied that ‘we are not, we are only issuing duplicate certi- ficates in care of lost certificates.’ Perez said, *zike (obscene) you are, you're registering people to vote and you know it.* Perez acted as if he was counting the three (3) Federal people in the office who were myself, and’ Perez then said, ‘There are (3) three more across the gtreet and that makes six of those Federal (obscene) here.'
