woe lt og te wos te , wwe ee Desegregati I a commendable display of good com- mon sense the Orleans Parish School Board last week brushed aside an at- tempted “road block” of citizens of the community interested in discussing the problems of desegregation in a calm and ery mae : torium. By a 4 to 1 vote a citizens group RB was permitted by the Board to schedule a 3 series of public forums on desegregation of schools. The first public forum was held last Thursday night at Rabouin School Au- ditorium. The Rev. Allen Hackett, pastor of the Pilgrim Congregational Church of St. Louis, spoke on how that community prepared itself for racial integration in the schools. “It was most refreshing to hear an b= a pr¢ssion of positive, intelligent and cén- structive views on how a more mature com- munity met the problem. Hackett was all the more interesting and made a whole lot more sense.
