The LBJ Wildflower Center will only close the morning of the LBJ Famil
Service on Day Two. [Condolence books will be available for signing by the
Public during normal business hours.]
LBJ Guards will be posted at the entrance (3 Floor Lobby) to provide
information and inform visitors to the library during normal business hours that it
is closed.
Media will begin to arrive at LBJ Library for live shots and initially media
satellite trucks will be allowed to park in lot 39.) Media credentialing will be in
Sid Richardson Hall, rooms 3.101 and/or 3.101. Media parking is in lot 37.
(The lot is to be reserved by P&T.)
Lot 38 will be reserved for LBJ Family, LBJ Library Staff and ADA parking.
Only the LBJ Library construction project will be stopped.
APD and other law enforcement agencies will handle police escorts.
Day Two:
A private ceremony will be held at the Wildflower Center (WFC) for the LBJ
Family and Wildflower Center staff from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Media is expected to arrive at 4:00 a.m. at the LBJ Wildflower Center.
The Media pool sets up equipment to cover service from 6:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.
6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Departure of Ceremonial Cortege). One UTPD
supervisor and four officers will provide security at the site. Two officers will be
stationed at the entrance to the WFC parking lot. One officer with a marked
police unit will be stationed on La Crosse just east of Snapdragon Drive to allow
only authorized persons past that point. One officer will patrol the grounds of the
WEC and provide a uniform presence.
USSS, WFC staff and volunteers will arrive at approximately 7:00 a.m.
The ceremonial cortege (police escort and hearse) will arrive at approximately
9:45 a.m.
The private services will start at approximately 10:00 a.m. and end at 11:00 a.m.
The ceremonial cortege will leave at approximately 12:00 p.m. enroute to the LBJ
Library. APD will provide the police escort.
Lying in Repose at the LBJ Library: (1:00 p.m. of Day Two until 11:30 a.m. of
Day Three.)
11:00 a.m. (Day Two) until 12:00 p.m. (Day Three): One UTPD supervisor and
four officers will be stationed at the LBJ Library. One officer and LBJ guards
will stationed inside the LBJ Library to help monitor the line leading to the Great
Hall. One officer will be stationed on the LBJ Plaza to monitor the crowd. Two
officers will be stationed in lots 38 and 39 to monitor the area. The officers will
work approximately four to eight hour shifts during the duration of the viewing.
At any point (late evening and over night) if the crowd diminishes in numbers, the
on-site supervisor may release officers at his/her discretion.
