They: ~- went to the Post office approximately every day and obtained mil | throush General Delivery under the names which they had given to the Wheelers, However, mo record of a change of address for these people, or any recollection of them, coulé be located through the Generel Delivery window of the Post Office, ~ The Wheelers described Mrs, Martin as age 24; height Sft. 7 or 8 in., weight 125 lbs., complexion dark, hair black, maybe a quarter breed Indian, very good teeth, a neat but not expensive dresser, |§ This women told the Wheelers thet she was in the Walkathbon Contest at Tulsa, Oclahoma, which ended around . . Christmes of 1932, end she had engeged in that contest under the ~ name of Mra. Martin. These three people left the residence at 137 N. Jackson Street very hesily, on or about April let, 1933, ~" and left a number of items of clothing and other belongings after them at the time. Subsequently Lrs. Wheeler received a letter from some person, requesting that these iteme of property be forwarded to the writer of the letter whose address wes at soms comunity with a name like Elisville, which was located about thirty miles from the City of Tulsa, Oklahoma. Mrs. Wheeler made an extensive search to locate this letter, subsequent to wiich she stated that she was confident that she had destroyed ite She could not recall the name of the writer of the letter, but knows that it was not Fade, Martin, Campbell or Wright, but believes it was some person representing himself as a relation . of one of these people. Mrs. Wheeler atated that immediately «© .- upon receipt of that letter she contacted police officer Newlin § § ‘- and in canplience with officer Newlin's instrustions, shipped the goods in question to the person who had sent the letter to her, It should be noted that former Cfficer Kewlin cleims that he ~ Be imnedietely communicated the information concerning the receipt |.” of the tetter by Mrs. Wheeler, and the shipment of the goode as ~ requested, to tke Police Authorities at Tulsa, Oklahoma, who had - exchanged communications with the Police at Casper previously, — . —-, concerning Campbell, and this informetion was conveyed to the ~ — a Pert... 7 Polfce at Tulsa in ample time to allow them to handle the matter — = 3 at the point of destination of the shipment.
