the bay barn, that some outlaws were there. We afforded Plemmons every
opportunity to point out the place he had in mind and offered him trans-
portation to any point that he would suggest, but he said he had no
further roads or places in mind, He atated, however, that he would make
a further effort to locate thie place and, if he finds it, he will notify
this office. He stated that the young man whom he ia alleged to have
accompanied into that country told him that this waa not the place at
which the outlaws resided permanently, but was just a stopping place for
them end that they treveled between Missouri and Texas and had several
hideouts in that section of the country.
Mr. W. C. Colvin, Postmaster at Yeatville, Oklahoma, was dis-
creetly interviewed, the reason for the inquiry not being disclosed to him,
with reference to any Longs who might live near Westville and be served
by that Post Office. Colvin stated that he had been residing there since
before statehood and that he Imew practically everybody in the commnity
apd that there is no Long who is receiving mail through that office. He
stated that the only Long he knows of in the community is a George Long,
who resides on a farm near watts, Oklehoma, which is some nine miles north
of Westville; that he has known Long for many years, who formerly was
enployed by the Kansas City-Southern Railway, and thet he is a man who
enjoys a good reputation and is supposed to be of good character. The
lecation of the farm of George Long was furnished Plenmone and he atated
emphatically that that could not be the place.
The spot alleged to have been visited by Plemmons on March 12th
apparently is located in Adair County, Oklahoma near the Arkansas line and
is country than which there is none rougher and better adapted for purposes
of hideouts of gangsters and criminals.
Plemmons, who is apparently sane, hes a decided detective complex.
He states thet he reads detective magazines practically all the time and
reads everything that appeare in any newspapers thet he can get hie hands
on about crime and criminals.
Sheriff #. J. walker at Pryor, Oklahoma, which is not far distant
from Salina, atated that he has not known Plemmons very long and that when
Plemmong first discussed thie matter with him, he gained the impression that
he was a little "off mentally and that nothing has occurred to alter thie
ecpinion,
Charles Whiteday, an Indian, Deputy Sheriff at Salina, says that
he hea known Plemmons for some two years or more and that while he has never
been intimately associated with him, he believes bim to be sane and knows of
