She stated that while she and George Kelly were in the
Twin Cities, on one of the occasions before mentioned, Albert Bates
rrived with $40,000.00 of the money received from the Urechel family.
Bates approached Banks to have this money exchanged but Eethryn Kelly
does not know what disposition was made of it. In conclusion, she
ord that the two men convicted just "took the rap™ for Tommy Banks.
She wes questioned about the remainder of the ransom money
and she recalled that Albert Bates told her that he had the money buried
in thermos jugs on the farm of a friend somewhere near Denver, Coloradc.
Bates mentioned the name of the friend, but Lirs. Kelly could not recall it.
In connection with the foregoing, I may state that while talking to Bates
in Oklahoma City and at the Leavenvorth Penitentiary, he intimated that
Fethryn Kelly had a general idee of where the ransom money was buried.
C7 He remarked, however, thet he did not think she could find it in a thousand
. } years. Eatbrom Kelly said she hoped that Bates would accumilate enough
7 4 sense to turn the morey back so "sore of the heat" on them might be taken
