On September 5, 1953, Agent Winstead at Gainesville,
Texas, interviewed C,H, Xirthenbauer, gunemith at thet plece,
who stated thet during the preceding winter two men who gave
their names es Kelly and Hendricks, stayed around Gainesville
for several days; thet Kelly ceme into his shop once and asked
if he mew how he could get in touch with Boyer; that F.J. Boyer
had at one time kept a Thompson Machine Gun in his (Kirthenbeuer's)
Shop, but that had been a year or two ago; that about two months
before the raid wes made on the Shannon Farm at Paradise, Texas,
(Aurust 12, 1933,) George Kelly with a women and a young girl
cams to his plece in e Ford, Model A, Sport Roadster, and hed
him make a switch key for the car; that at that time Kelly
esked if he (Kirthenbauer) hed a 50-bullet drum or 4 20-bullet
clip for Thompson Machine Guns; that at that time he also
asked where he could find Boyer; thet about one month before
the raid on the Shannon Ferm wes made = exact date he could
not fix ~ Kelly alone came by hie shop and etated, "The key
you mace worked ol) right," then esked if Boyer was around;
that the time George Kelly was in his shop with Kathryn and
the little ¢irl, Kelly engaged him in conversetion and asked
if he had machine runs for sale, and remarked, "Wie could sell
@ lot of them between here and Kanses.”
Thereafter, in response to letter from the New
York City Division Office, deted October 2, 1935, requesting
that inquiry es to F.3. Boyer be mede at Gairesville, Texas,
to whom Thompson Sub-Machine Gun No. 4685 hed been sold on
Januery 21, 1927, which gun was found in the personal effecta
"of Albert L.\Estes at Denver, Colorado, Agent Winstead again
interviewed F.J. Boyer at Gainesville, Texas, the results of
which interview are set out in report by Special Agent Winstead,
dated et Dallas, 10-13-35,
