Pr cn ee an * 74 . " . . BSS ete gen th aoa 7 ee a Fae ‘ee, ’ lsas he had scmething positive. 62-456 ~3e a . 1 /23 fs Saye I have never been able to arrive at a conclusion as to whether or not Informant "a" has been throwing us a curve on this proposition, but Yam inclined to think that suth fs the case or else he is not in personal contact with Galatas himself and is relying on Ed Speare for contacts with Galatas. It ie known that Galates is very suspicious 6f Informant a end believes that he is the ame who put the finger on Nash. , ot “Informant "a" waa told thet he would receive $500.00 for direct information as to the whereabouts of Galatas and at thie time stated: “If I get the informetion, you shall have it as I do not intend to cover him any Longer." He also stated thet he would not bother me again on this matter un= In connection with this matter, I will call your attention to ny letter of even date addressed to the Kansas City office under personal and confidential cover on the same subject, a copy of whieh fa forwarded also te you under personal and confidential cover, and from the reading of which in conjunction with this letter, one might draw the conclusion that there is grave doubt as to whether or not Informant “A* is playing square with the Division, The Division is doubtless well aware of. the fact that Brandenburg, mentioned in my letter to the Kansas City office, is doing everything posaible to throw suspicion on Informant "4* in order that he, himself, might secure the position now held by the latter. Personslly, I have no more confidence in Brendenburg than I do in Informant "4a", if as much, as he was elso known to be a downright orook when he was in office at Hot Springs. I write in such detail in order that the Division and the Kansas City office may be fully advised of the most recent developments in this | matter. Very truly yours, R. H. Colvin ’ Special Agent in Charge. eo ~- Kanses City
