However, in this connection, the most current information
which has just been received from Deputy Warden Graham and Mr. laws,
Guard at tre Karsas Stete Penitentiary, is to the effect thet Lyman. -
Ford hee now secured advice from JamesYLawaon to the effect that
\the fourth men was one Ferryqcempbell.
DS It is knom thet en outlew named Harry Campbell is a
x Y close friend and former running mate of James Lawson. Lawson and -
7 Campbell were wanted on the same offense at Independence, Kenses, ©
and a circular was issued ty County authorities there showing their,
photographa together in 1922. While identification data as to- §..°
Campbell ig not at this time available to the Kansas City Office,
same is being secured from the Police Depertment at coffereiite/ ©
Kansas.
It occurs that eince Lawson and Campbell were sucb close
friends there is a probebility that Lawson himself could have been
present with the other incividuale, if hia steterent to Lyman Ford =
ie true, and mizht therefore have a connection with the instant
massacre. For this reason a letter haa been directed to the
San Franciace Office referring to the report of Special Agent ;
Wo. R. Remsey, Jr., dated at San Francisco, September 19, 1925, and .
