‘_, & J Conner maintained that on the morning of June 17, 1933, he informed Louise Conner that he was leaving for Knobel, arkanasa, and when requested by her to do so he waited until evening and she drove him to Little Rock to catch the night traing He went on to Knobel on that cecagion and stopped at the Handley farm and the following day, which would be June 16, 1933, Loulee Conner arrived at that place with her car ani mich luggageés She left some of the luggage at the Handley place and also left her cer and took a train from Knobel, Arkansas, after remaining a few houra and eaid at that tins that she was going to Memphis, Tennesse@s A J Conner admitted that he went to Memphis, Tennessee, himself later to see Louise Conner, It may be noted, as previously mentimed in various reports, that Mra. Handley is a sister of Louise Conners 4 J Conner denied any knowledge of the whereabouts of Galataa and maintained alao that he did not know the true identity of Frank Nash while the latter was residing at Hot Springs, Arkansas. He said he knew Nash as Doe Williams, but head no information concerning himg He was asked age to whether the apartment at Hot Springs occupled by Louise Conner and himself was kept locked during their absence and he answered that 1% wase He said that both hé and Louise Conner had keyse He was asked if he and Louise Conner ever talked abat the killings at Kanaas City and le said that they had discussed it in Memphis on the occasion that he visited her after her departure from Fnobele He claimed that they had only talked of the awful aspest of tha occurrence and that the name of Gelatas was not mentimed in connection with ite He was asked if Louise Conner hed placed the telephone calla on June 16, 1953, and he said thet ebe could have but that he did not know anything about ite 4 J Conner stated that be had not been back to Hot Springs since June 17, 1933, and does not expect to return there, He promised that he would leave his address with the Heandleys in Enobel, arkanms, if he left there in order that he might be located for further interview if ao desired, For future reference the description of a J Conner, as secured fram personal observation of agents andersen and Marshell is set out, as follows; ; Age ~ £4 years Height « 6 feet Weight = 160 pounds
