Dear Sir:
With reference to subject Richard Telman Gelatas, Special
Agent D. W. Magee, of this office, in conversation at New Orleans,
Louisiana, with Mr. 4. D,. Burford, Special agent in Chergs of the
Intelligence Unit, Internal Revenue Service, Headquarters at Memphis,
Tennessee, secured information that may be of some value to the
Division in an effart to locate and emse the apprehension of subject
Galates.
Mr. Burford advised that the Internal Reveme Service had
been investigating Galatas for about a year with reference to sus-
pected fraud on Income Taz matters. He stated, however, that the
investigation had not progressed to the stage where the process had
been issued on Galates, but that hie location was desired for inter-
view in connection with his tar returne. .
Mr. Burford advised that in his opinion a certain Judge in
Hot Springs, Arkansas, by the name of "Leatheridge,” (phonetic spelling)
was in close contact with subject Galetas, Mr. Burford stated thet a
gambler by the name of Jacobse” operating at Hot Springs, Arkansas, if
he wanted to, could furnish information concerning the location of
Galetas. He stated thet Jacobse fe of a different political elignment
om that of Galatas, but for political reasons had hired a brother of
Vrudgeyentheridge he work in his gambling
