There are enclosed herewith two copies ofa memorandum by Special agent W. ?. ;
“Trainor dated November 26, 1933, pertaining to information furnished by Deputy
Warden Grahem end Mr. L. 4. Laws of the Kansas State Penitentiary, Lansing, Kansas.
It is noted that the fects as alleged implicate fred and Ipyd}Barker, et al, in, a
the slaying of the officers and Frank Nesh. I consider this ‘information vitally
important; while it does not coincide with the major facts heretofore developed, ~ -
there seems, however, to be no inconsistency between the possible truth of the :
st-tements mude by LymamyFord of the Kansas State Penitentiary to the offi clals
there and the other evidence developed to date in thia case. .
I have considered the edvi sability of interviewing Mrs. prencesChash ine con-
nection with this matter and have decided that it 1s probably not at this time
. Sivisable, in view of her apperent leck of sincerity and truth when interviewed”
‘praviously in this matter. JI believe that an interview with her et this time might
serve to impede succane in developing the actual truth regarding the implications |
of Barker, et al. Investigation will be held in abeyance et South Coffeyville, |
Oklehora, for the present, since there is apparently a chence that the information
regzerding guilt of the Barkers and their companions in this ¢ase might de further ;
‘ developed by investigation to better advantage if no search is begun for them. ae
Svecial Agent Farold E. anderson and another Agent from ‘thie of fice ‘will be .
in the Okishoma territory within a short time. The facts muntioned by Deputy:’; ae J
Werden Graham and Mr, Laws of the Kanses State Penitentiary will be borne in mind | t
“when investigation is ;ede at Hot Springs and other pointe. in the future. wh
