AR O. N. MARTIN, Police Department, Little Rock, Arkansas:
Will testify that telephone number 4£162, Little Rock, Ark.,
was the telepbone number of the Police Department at Little Fock, accord~
ing to his knowledge, on June 16, 1923. Also thet he was personally evaere
that there was no other long distance telephone call at approximately 2:24 P.M.
received at the Police Department, Little Rock, from Hot Springs, Arkansas,
and that he personally talked on the call listed above at about 2:24 Pel,
He will testify that his conversation was had with Herbert 4, Akers, @
Police Detective at Hot Springs, Arkansas, and that Aakers informed him that
@ man had been kidnaped at Hot Springs about noon of that day and described
the man in terms identical with those of Federal Prisoner Frank Nash, ani
stated that the captore of the kidnaped individual were headed for Little
Rock, Arkanease Mrs Martin will testify that during hie conversation with
4kers he informed Akers that the officers had already arrived at Little Rock
and hed identified themselves as Federal Agents, and that they had in custody
e Federal prisoner wham they were transporting by cere He will testify he
advised Akers that the Agents had inquired the Righway to Joplin, Missouri,
and thet police officers from the Little Rock Police Department bad escorted
the agents and the prisoner on the Highway out of Little Rock toward Joplin.g
Ee will testify that the Highway leading from Little Rock to Joplin ia the
eames 4s that leading to Fort Smith, Arkansas, for a distance of abdout 30
Biles out of Little Rocke
Attention is called here to the fact that the telephone sall
wae made at Hot Springs from the telephone of Subdject Galetas but the cone
° versation was had over Galatast telephone by a police officer; namely,
Herbert 4, Akora, who was apparently cooperating with Gelatas,
diso attention should be noted to the fact that dkere was
advieed at that time that the officera with the prisoner were headed for
Joplin, Missouri, Thie fe a significant fact due to the occurrence which
took place immediately after the telephone call wna made by Akere; namely,
that Gelatas proceeded by airplane with Mre, Frances Nash, the wife of the
prisoner who had been captured, to Joplin, Missouri, Further details ree
garding the airplane trip may be noted below under the testimony of John
Stover, an airplane pilot. Also in this connection the teetimony of Mra.
