CONNECTION OF VERNOH Cy MILLER WITH ABOVE.
Vernon C. Miller alias Vorne ‘Miller, Vincent c.cuoore, 7
and VermYerlin, was received at the South Dakota Penitentiary on
April 4, 1923, from Beadle County, for embezzlement of public funde,
under a sentence of two to ten years, and to pay a fine of $5,200.
He was also indicted at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, October 20, 1925
for violation of the National Prohibition Act. His bond was later
forfeited and a nolle prosequi entered. He is known to have been
- an associate of Frank Nash and his geng for some time.
Ali of the evidence in this case may not be set forth,
of course, but the following is of interest:
At 4:42 P.M. on June 16th, shortly after Frank Nash het
been taken into custody by Special Agents of. the Bureau of In~ ;
vestigation at Hot Springs, Arkansas, a telephone cell was made from
a certain number st Hot Springs to "Herb Farmer® at Joplin, .
Missouri. At 8:46 P.M., approximately $ minutes after the Special .
- | Agents of this Bureau, accompanied by Chief of Police Reed of :
McAlester, Oklahoma, had left by train from Fort Smith, Arkansas for —
Kensas City, Missouri, a telephone call was made fron Fort Suit,
Arkansas to Hot Springs, Arkansas. At 10:09 P.M., a telephone call
was listed from the same mmber at Hot Springs, Arkansas, as previously
set forth, to "Herb Farmer" at Joplin, Missouri. At 10:17 P.M.
a telephone call was recorded from the residence of Farmer at Joplin,
Missouri to a residence at 6612 Edgevale Street, Kansas City,
Missouri, occupied by a person giving his name as V. C.0Moore. at - -_..
12:05 A.M. on June 17th, the day of the massacre, a telephone call
was listed from the pay station at the Union Station at Kansas City
to Ester Farner, Herd Farner's wife, at Joplin, Mis
