C. oo Dear Sir:e Reference ia made to the telenhone call from lr. Vincent Hughes of the Bureau yesterday afterno m, at which time he advised me that a telegram had been received from Mr. Frank J. Loesch, with the request that I eall on hin. I called on Mr. Loesch at his office at 1540 Otie Building, 10 S. LaSalle Street, and he stated that he had noticed in the newspapers of the apprehension of Lewis (Doc)oStacey, in connection with the Kansas ~~ City shooting, an! he felt that he had same very valuable in*’ormation concerning the background and history of thie individual. Ee called in lr. W. Comfort\Hawkins, whose addrees ia . 323 N. Central Avenue, Chicago, and he informed me.Mr. Hawkins had previously worked for him on many occasions, and that Hawkinea had on many occasiona predicted the occurence of shootings or other gangster activ- ities as far as five deys ahead of the actual happening. He stated, ° further, that he had received very valuable information from Hawkins, and suggested that I talk with him. aes He then introduced me to wr. Hawkine, with whom I talked at some length. It appears that during the War, he was employed by George Creel of the Creel Conmiasion on Public Information. Thia wae a committee operating under the United States Covernment. Hawkine informed me that he was made acting Director of Mexican and South American Affaire, 4n connection with this couittee. Hs speaks Spanish fluently. In 1019, until 1929, he worked for Lewis E. Scheabtz, General Counsel on Productim of the Paramount Publix Film Corporation. According to Mr. Hawkine, Schwartz ie now in Hollywood, and can be reached there in the event it becomes necessary to do a0. - While in the employ of lr.
