Galatas and Mra. Frances Nash, as passengsres A feu Ef minutes after Galstas passed, dkers drove dom the street in Galatas* i Cadillac Sedan, followed by Chief of Police Joe Wakeland of Hot Springse Mr. Wakeland driving his own care Shortly thereafter Wakeland and Alera drove past in the opposite direction in Wakeland's qutomobile, evidently having left the Cadillac belonging to Galatas, About two hours later austell sav Galatas driving hie om Cadillac Gedane Austell did not see Galatas any more that day, but saw him the following day (June 17, 1935)e It is evident that Akere and Wakeland assisted Galatas by first telephoning Benton and Littis Rock, Arkansas, around 12 or 12:50 P.M. fram the Hot Springs Police Departments then that Galatea took his Ford ear and got Mra. Nash and took her to his hom while dkers drove Galatast Cadillac Sedan to the Galatas home followd by Wekeland in Wakeland*s care At Galatas* house Akers telephoned the Little Rock Police Department at 8:34 P.M, and learned that the officers were going te Jopling de will appear under calls numbers £ and 3, Mra, Naab placed ‘ telephones calle from the home of Mree BE. B. Conner et Hot Springs, arkansas, S -- all number £ having been placed at 2:50 Peale It is problematical whe ther ae or not Galatas ané Mra. Nash were present et 2:34 P.M. at Galatas’ home when akers put in the telephones call to Bittle Rock. It is found that Galetas caused Mra. Nash to accompany him from Hot Springs, Arkanma, to Joplin, Miasourl, in an airplane on the afternoon of June 16, 1935, having left Hot Springs somewhere around 4 P.M. or shortly thereafters + . SARS 7 i Pog beay as aad Mrs. Hash has made two different atatenents, ons to the effect that Gelatas picked her up at a tourist camp at Hot Springs about noon, June 16, 1935, and took her to hieg Galatas*, home, She made another statement subsequently to the effect that Gelatas picked her up at the tourist camp, about 2:50 P.M. on June 16, 19355, ani took her @irectly to the home of Mres Conners In her later etatement she advised that when Galatas first approached her aroumdad 2:30 P.M. he told her that ber husband had been arrested and was being taken to Joplin, Missouri, and that she should accompany him to Joplin in order that he might see the officers and have them release her husbands This later statement ie apparently untruee Galates did not kmow anything about the alleged destination as Joplin until he received it apmrentiy from Akers, who received bie information to that effect at 2:34 P.M. It will be noted in sall murber 2*that Mree Nash made that call sixteen minutes after 2:54 Pele and made it from a residence other than that of Galatas, where the 2:34 P.M. call was medee She is evidently faleifying vith respect to the details of her having deen taken directly to Mra, Conner's homes
