Confirming telephonic con-
versation had today with Supervisor Eughes, you are advised that
op July léth Warden Lacey Simpson, Kansas State Prison, Lansing,
Kensas, furniehed this office with an original letter received
from Je ©. Bilson, Postmaster, Richmond, Illinois, dated July
14th, advising Simpson that on that date a letter had arrived
at the Richnond Fost Office addressed to Hadley F. Martin,
postmarked Havana, Cuba, July 10, 1923, return addreas “Apartado
(P.O. Box) 1073", .
This office immediately
communicated with the Chicago Office by telephone in order to .
verify whether or not Hedley F. Martin was connected with Fred
Martin, who is suspected of relaying mail to Mre. Mattie Bailey,
wife of Fugitive Bailey. SAC Purvis advises that Fadley F.
Kartin is a brother of Fred Lartin.
Consequently, the Bureau was
telephoned regarding thie matter as it wae deexed advisable that
all“information possible be obtained in Havana,Cuba, concerning
this letter, as there is a possibility that it might be from
the Fugitive Bailey. (21-28 9/5-323 G4 {/ S- 3 233 |
