Mr. Gowen introduced me to Consul General DouglasNenkins and made
arrangenents for a luncheon on the following day. He also insisted that 1 join
him at a formal premisre showing at the Enpire Theatre the next evening, which
invitation I accepted, and that evening I attended the Theatre with Consul General
Jenkins, Mrs, Jenkins and Mr. Gowen. I attended Mr. Gonen's luncheon at the -

ber of Commerce at London. Mr. Douglas Jenkins was also in attendance. The
conversation during ths luncheon was largely focused on the Bureau and the won-
derful work of the Director.
During wy attendance of the course at Hendon, it was impossible to
gee Mr. Gowan or members of the Eabassy but I learned that he had kept in touch |

He introduced me to Ambassador Joseph {Kennedy at which time I ex-
pressed the Bureau's appreciation for the assistance of the State Department.
Mr. Kennedy, at that time, instructed Mr. Gowen to prepare a very cordial
letter to The Right Honerable Sir Samel J. G.xfioare, Bt. ,.G.C.S.1., G.B.E.,
C.N.G., M.P., Secretary of State, thanking him for the many courtesies extended
the representative of the FHI. He instructed ir. Gowen make it more than
