Mr. Hoover furnished a five-page summary of information cozntained in the
Ailes of the Dies Commitice conceraing Joseph B. Lash, A review of those
| files was made by a representative of the FBI. |

Mr. Hoover further advised the Attorney General that the files
in the office of Colonel Donovan failed to disclose any information ¢oncerning
Joseph P. Lash. Based on the fact Lash was a member of the United States
Army, and because of his past subversive activities, an investigation of
him was conducted by the Counterintelligence Corps, G-2, sometime prior
to December, 1642, at which time it was learned thet Lash's relationship
with Mrs. Roosevelt was an intimate one. The rem its of this investigation
were subsequently made imown to President Roosevelt by the military.
Joseph P, Lash was not the subject of an FBI investigation during
this period,
