On 11/1/60, =BANTILLON's,dem office was charged with a telephone call to BOB MAHEU, telephone number JE 3-9655, Washington, D.C, MAHEU has stated that he used as a cover for the Las Vegas investigation, a pretext that a Los Angeles attorney had requested the investigation. MAHEU has refused to identify the attorney. It is not known at the present time whether MAHEU actually had the attorney make the request or whether he, MAHEU, merely told EDWARD DU BOIS that an attorney had made the request. In any event, MAHEY probably would have contacted the attorney and received permission to use the attorney's name.
