TURNER, 1300 BE. 48th Street, Chicago, Illinois, twas interviewed on September 25, 1947 by Special Agents b> a. which time he stated that he had written a letter to the Parole a Board recommending that CHARLES GICE be paroled. He stated that he had . written this letter after being requested to do so by the wife of mbject GICE, which reqest had been made to him in the early part of May, Bate 3 TURNER stated that he knows both subject CHARLES GICE and his brother, ares Cake . T(NY GICE, as customers of his clothing store, and that in all of his | dealings with them as customers they have been hcnest and fair. He ‘stated : ai that he had a smattering of knowledge of their background, but that he did "2. believe that GIVE could be rehabilitated upon his release from jail. He .°".+ further stated that in connecticn with his past business with GIOE that he _ always paid his bills, and it was no business of TURNER's where GIOE got hig _4 money. TURNER also stated that he had known subject GIOE back in the days._ when GIOE had had an interest in the Beachcomber Restaurant in Chicago. . TURNER stated that he would write the same letter today to the Parole Board ever knowing that an investigation was imminent. He also stated. that ° = he thought in his mind that he had written the letter for the best of the © five parolees. TURNER stated that he did not have any knowledge of any irregularities in connection with the parolees cbtaining their ‘paroles, and ; that he knows only GIVE cut of the five subjects in this case. TURNER stated that the Turner Brothers Clothing Chicago, Illinois, is a corporation ovmed by hi an oncle of his.
