Franklin Neff 777 Broadway Dear Chief Neff: , Reference is made to your previous request for investigative assistance by the Federal Bureau of Investiga- tion in determining the whereabouts of John Wayne Gacy during 1967, with regard to his possible involvement in an investiga- tion initiated in 1967 by the Hannibal, Missouri Police Department, the Cook County, Illinois Sheriff's Department, and States Attorney's Office. Through contact with the Des Plaines, Illinois Police Department it was determined that previous investigation conducted by that department indicated that Gacy had assisted his father-in-law in the operation of i several Kentucky Fried Chicken Restaurants in the Waterloo, j lowa area during 1966 and 1967, at which time Gacy's mother ‘resided in Little Rock, Arkansas. Information was also provided that Gacy was believed to have been previously . : i i ce gb Rei ee ee affiliated with the Jaycées in Springfield, Illinois and Waterloo, Iowa, although no information had been developed by that department indicating that Gacy had ever resided in . Hannibal, Missouri. Further, it is believed that an interview , of Gacy is not deemed feasible at this time in view of pending ~prosecutive proceedings.
