Bates, Assistant Lega] Attache John Minnich was informed 6/21/63,
via Defense phone facilities, that William C, Burdett, Deputy
Assistant Secretary of State for European Affairs,was leaving
for London to look into this whole matter for Secretary Rusk.
Minnich was instructed to be alert to this situation and, if
possible, to find out what Burdett develops and keep the Bureau
promptly informed, He was also tgid,.to secure a copy of Burdett's
report if possible and advisable,
We told Minnich that Secretary Rusk plans to arrive
in London Thursday, 6/27/63, and Burdett is to have all information
he developed ready for the Secretary on that date, Minnich said
