conversations concerning general aspects of the case. Om one occasion
Lr, DOYLE advised that while he was in Washington, D. ©. about two weeks
ago the Attorney General informed him specifically, in the presence of
various attorneys of the Lepartment, that this was DOYLE's cass and f
that he was entirely responsible for the nm en ’.

take will be contirgent upon instructions he receives from the Department
(Cn October 11, 1943 DOYLE advised that he had received a letter over the
Signature of FRANK COLEMAN, Special Assistant Attorney General, advis-
ing that COLEMAN would be in Springfield on October 12th or 13th to
assist DOYLE in proceeding with prosecution, However the letter indicated
that Col SEMAN was te have = final eorference with TOW CLARK. Aesi stant

Attorney General, before leaving Washington and DOYLE telephonically
contacted CLARK on October llth to ascertain the results of this conference,
He stated CLARK informed him that the case was still under discussion in
the Department and they were trying to arrive at a conclusion as to
whether the evidence warranted proceeding with prosecution, DOYLE said
that CLARK suggested to him that he discuss with Agents of this office f
the statements which had beer made under oath

Mr. DOYLE has not thus far requested this office to
investigative steps in this matter but in the event he should mak#-any E3
requests for investigation he will be informed that instructio§™> fur-2; ;

through the Bureau headquarters in Washington, D. C.
