M& ali sales except to Railroads, Peabody allowed | ELSWOFF Gf of the sales price with a simimm net commseton of 10 cents per ton, It will be moted that mo allowance was mde for sales tax in eny of the price arrangemnts entered into. Novenber 6, 1939. It will be further noted that 2 this date is also the date Mine B re-opened, vat Mr, REED explained that the commission allowance to ELSHOFF waa reduced st this time because Peabody found it conld dis~ pose of all its coal without selling any of 4t through a broker. Ge yelated that selling coal to ELSHOFF was beneficial to Peabody whan market was Siow, even though Peabody did not make any money @ the deal, This benefit, he said, was the result of being able to operate pecensity to Bell to ELSDOFF at the old rates, his records showed that very Little coal was sold by Peabody to after Wovenbder 6, 1939.
