I kmow there were somo moetings held by the Progressive men from Mine 4, but the only one I attended wos at the Elks Club. Jy talked at this mecting. I re~ member that at this meeting someong said that unless we joined U.M.W. ELSHOFF would mot open Mine 4, or else he would hoist conl from Mine 4 through Mine 8. “The men voted to join U.M.W. at this time, it sooms to me the men stood up. fe signed cards to join U.M.W. EDNUNDSON talked to us at this meeting but I do not remember whit ho talked about. I didn't pey mich attention to what wis going on, I wos just fooling around. I wos not threstenod or beaten but joined U.M.W. freely, to keep my job, it didn't mike any difference to ma. When we wont book to work under U.M.W. things ware about the soma, I didn't sec any differenoe. I quit Mine £ in Jonuory, 1943 because I wanted to got another job. The minos were not good for me.
