"I am now employed at Penther Creek Mine #5, which ig jocated
across the street from where I live. I worked at Mine 4 about years,
ending lest January. 1 was employed by Mine # at the time thni “yan sold
the mine. I do not know why the men changed unions at that timc. I was a
member of the Progressive Kine workers of America at that tims, and I ama
member of the Pai. of A now, I did not attend any of the meetings of the
local when the matter of changing unions was discussed. I did not hear any
about it. I signed up with the Uw after ail the cther men had signed up,
and there was a closed shop contract. I signed up with the Uw so I could
go back to work. If I did not, I would lose my job. I did not hear any
telk of changing wions prior to that time. I was satisfied with the
Progressives, and I think most of the men were too.
