"I went to work the next morning but nobody went down. At
that time I didn't know there was a strike and that is why I went. ‘then
I got there I found out there was a strike and I remember there was some
ciscussion about a contract.
"I don't remember signing any petitions during the summer of 15957.

there was a notice in the paper. I went out on the day it vas to open,

though the U.M.0. men were going to work. We started a picket line then,
the fcllows said we had to stay to protect our job. I was there until the
injunction was served by the UT. 8. Marshall. I would come home once in a@
while, I was frce to come home whencver I wanted to, Nearly all of the
miners werc on the line. In on. way I felt glad when we were told to go
home, I was getting tired of staying there. The only one I was mad at was
Tetlene for I folt that they were the onss who had made us get out,
"TI voted in the NLRB elcction in December, 1937 at Springficld.
I wont to the Union 211 and a fow of us went to the armory and voted,
The election was nice and quict and there was no trouble of any kind,
"I did not go back to the mine again until it opened up in
Fovember of 1939, I was notified to go to work, I don't remember how I
wos notified, I went back to my same job and for quite a while things were
quiet, After I had been working for a while Sam Albanese tried to get me
to join ULM... He told me I would be surprised to know how many belonged,
He didn't threaten me, however, anc I told him I wouldn't join.

I told him I wouldn't. He tried to get me to join_U.M.¥. and followed

Falectti 2isked me if I knew who the fellow was but at that time I didn't
know who he was, Falcetti told me to work in another place in the mine but
I didn't want to chanze. Falcetti then gave me a note to the pit bossa \
and after that this fellow didntt bother me anymore, although I saw him in
