In December of 1937, at an é@lection, I voted for the P.M.A., because I liked that union, and didn't like the U.K. "T started work at Mine B acain in December of 1939. Almost every day men came to me and talked to me and tried t t me to join the U.M.%. I don't remember who they were excent one ~: i They 211 told me that if I didn't sicpn ith U.M.U. I'd lose my jobs inaliy joined the U.M."., sometime before the election of 1941. I joined only because I was afriad I vould lose my job if I didn't. "Right after I joined the U.N... Iwas given a different place to work: in, much worese than the one I hod before, and was told that if IT didn't like rf it I could quit my job. In the election éf 1941, althouch I was a member of th UM, I voted for the F.71.A. because conditions were 100% better under 1 the P.M.A., and I liked that union much better. Under the P.M.A. I had better rooms, and conditions were much better. i "One day, after the election, § a and another man came to . re my room in the mine, grabbed me by the arms, and wanted to know why I said 3 that I had been made to join the U...%. They didn't hurt or threaten me, . and, when I told them I hadn't said it to anyone, they Ieft. I never did tell anyone I was made to join the U.!..., because I was afraid to say any~- thing like that, because I know I would have been beat up if I did. "In September of 1937, when they tried to open up the mine, we went cut to the mine to so to work. Falcetti 2sked the president of the P.M.a. for 50 men to open the mine. The president said he would cive him 100 men ” to work the mine, Falcetti told him that he, Faleetti, didn't want Posisay | 7 men, he wonted U.N. men. He scid he wouldn't open the mine if the U.M.W. men didn't come in to work it. I heard Falcetti say this at Hine B in Septem- der of 1937. I went on the picket line at that time, because I wanted to, anc not because anyone forced me. I didn't see anyone there who wasn't a Mine B man. .
