At this time kr. Frank Coleman called from the Department Gandy ”
relative to this matter am? stated that the Attorney General was lexye
ing on Tuesday next for Mexico for a two weeks vacation. Mr. Coleman
was interested in knowing whether we would have a summary of the pre~-
liminary investigation developed by Tuesday because Mr, Coleman feels
that the Attorney General would like to take with hin some sort of a
picture as to what the preliminary investigation has developed.
It was pointed out to Mr. Coleman by Les rrigcrers ie took the
call that there was a distinct possibility, as he had previously been ad-
vised, that the initial report in this matter might reach the Bureau by
Tuesday or Wednesday of next week and that every effort would be made, of
course, to try and have a sumary available for the Attorney General be-
fore he leaves on Tuesday. Mr. Coleman stated that under no circumstances,
however, did he want to haxper or interfere with the investigation anc in
the event there was any possibility of such occurring he was sure that the
Attorney General would not want the matter rushed just to have the pre~
liminary information available, :
ACTION: Attached ia a suggested teletype to Springfield, instructing that
the report which SAC Hallford stated would be prepared by Saturday of this
week, September ), should be prepared without fail and sutmitted, to reach
the Bureau by Monday, epecial deliverye These were the plans of SAC Hall~
ford prior to the receipt of this call. However, in order that the report
will be mailed Saturday, it ia deemed advisable to teletype Mr. Haliford
since he was given leeway to hold off for # few days if he thought it advis-
