continue “I never suspected that PA officials were stealing money
and we never had any special assessments like they did
with UMW. The Progressive union was run by us miners and it vesu't lie
the UMn which was run by only a few. I attended as many mi0%1..g. as I could
of PMA. To my knowledge no UM men came out and botherec me tufore the mine
closed won in 1937 nor did I see any literature of TMi. Be om aver
approached me about going over to “Uhl but I heard there were sone going
eround and this was before the mine closed. It was gozsip that UM had

1937. I don't recall of going to the meeting ths nig ht before the mine
chsed down. I don't recall of hearing anything sbout some men dbeihg ex~
pelled and I just don't recall when I first heard about it. I remambor of
being called out from the mine on the day it closed but I don't recall what
we wore told about it. The way I recall it the strike was called because
some spies were not fired and it was not over any wage question. I still
have my tools out there in the mine.

we could load the cars and many of mine were not full and it never happened
before except just thet one day. I can't recall the name of the driver. Wo
one told me to load cars short.

was said to me that a strike was called. Several weeks after the mine closed
I signed a petition for PMA and I can't recall just where I signed it. Wo
compulsion was used to make me sign it. I never signed anything for UMW
and I never would. I would have signed any petition for Bid then and may
have signed another one or two but I just can't recall for sure.
"I heard something about (iW forming a new local but no one asked
me to join it. I heard t that Pete Carter, was close with UM. but neither he
nor any others bothered me. I think I attended several rogular PMA meet-
ings during the summer of 1937 but nothing unusucl took place. I heard
something about Faleetti and some of the other traitors wore working at the
pSefferson Mine but I don't know anything more about it. I also once heard
something about Klshoff taking over the Jefferson mine, I never got any
notice that Mine B would reopen in Sept. 1957 but I heard about it and I
