"Tho night before tha strikc, or shortly before the stri e there
wasp a mecting of the local. JI think this was a special mccting. Tt was
82 long ago, that I do not recall cxactiy whet went on, There was a
fairly large buneh of fellows there thet right, They Gid not try any men,
they had £1] been tricd before, I wos at the mocting ance they decidod thet
they would not go back to work as long 28 the men who had been tried and
kickod out of the Unio were still at work. I remember that thore was some
Giscussion at that Ti7c. I do nat rember cxactly what happened, but I
think the men dccidsod to go to work the next day. I know we Cid, I was
working, anc hed filled one car full, Ons of the drivers told me that they
were mot filling full esrs that dey, and I told him thot if I couldr't fill
a car I wouldn't work, I left anc etartcd home. I was on top whe. 7
enlled the strike. I went hone. I think the trouble was over the fir
of those men who had becn kicked out sf the Union. I rceall vaguely that
Oscar Falcetti told a group of the mcn while I was there that he would not
fire these men until he got some more information on the Wagner act. I do
not reell if that was the day of the strike or thc day before.
"Aftor the strie, I went home. JI wont back to work the next
day, but none of the men were working so I wont on home, I went out the
next couple of days after the strike, “hile I was out there I sisncd some
papers for the Progressives, I think, I remember signing somthing. I
know that I did net sign anything for the United Mine Vorkers. I was a
membor of the Progressives at that time. I wanted them to get back to work
ag soon xs they could. I was cisatisfiod with the deductions, but I was
not doing anythinz about switching Unions or causing any discussion among
the mon. I was satisficd to stay in the Progressives if I coulc get back
to work. After a few days I ghit going out to the mine, and started
looking for another job. i 2 i
