"In I first joined the UMW while working <a Mine Be |
in Springfield, 111. I was a member of UMW until 1932. In Apri _of 1932
there was a strike and I did not work until December of 1955, at which time
I went to work in Mine "BY at Springfield at which time I joined the PMA
union. From December of 1933 until May of 1957, I worked in Mine "B™ - and
was @ member of PMA during the entire tims.
"During the time from 1933 until Hay of 1937 1 noticed Elehoff was |
friendly with those UMW sympathizers working in Mine "B", These eympathizers
vere Charles Bohannon, Pete Carter and several others, about twelve in all,
whose name 1 canbet’ remember. Elshoff and these men would have parties in
the company office, but none of the fellows who belonged to PMA were af these
parties, During this timo the talk among the fellows working in the Nine.
