credit reporting and law enforcement agencies indicating that
their files contain either no record or no additional pertinent
information concerning Mr. Chancellor or his close relatives.
Informants
Other informants who are familiar with certain
phases of homosexual activities in appropriate aréas have
been contacted and have advised that Mr. Chancellor is unknown
to them and they have no information concerning him.
RESULTS OF INVESTIGATION
Interviews
Jacob K.. Javits, United States Senator from New York,
was interviewed in Washington, D. C., and advised he has known
Mr. Chancellor for several years as an outstanding news commen-
tator. He stated that Mr. Chancellor is very capable and out-~
standing in every respect. He said he has had no social contact
with Mr. Chancellor other than at official functions. He
favorably recommended Mr. Chancellor for a position of trust.
