PH 100-18819 on 11/23/59______| who has furnished reliable information in the past, furnished SA JEREMIAH W, DOYLS two copies of the minutes of a meeting of the Executive Committee a he Philadeinhia 7 O he AAScW which was held on ee The first names in parenthes.y of the above individuals were furnished orally by The minutes reflect that Dr, SCOTT arranged for Dr. DERKE STRUIK to speak to the Asseclavicn on Tuesday, 11/17 (59), in the Physical Sclence Puillding, at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. scorl anc Dr, RUTMAN were to prepare a mimeographed announcement of this affair to be gent to all members of the Association as well as to interest- ed scientists, and posters announcing the affairs were to be placed in various buildings at the University of Peansyl- vania, According to the minutes, Dr. SCOTT would try to secure Dr. PHILLIP GEORGE as chairman of the meeting. The minutes further reflected thet Dr. SCOIT announced that Mr. NURY of the Board of Education Science Program for Elementary Schools had offered to speak to the group on 12/1/59. According to the minutes, Dr. RUTMAN was to contact Mr, THEODORE ROSEBURY regarding the possibility of ROSEBURY's peing in Philadelphia sometime in the Spring (1960) to report on the Pugwash Conference, A discussion was also held azound the topic "What Are The Steps Which Should Be Taken Toward Disarmament ?" Under the caption, "Treasurer's Report” the minutes noted that in the absence of Dr. (SARAH) KAPLAN, Philadelphia Branch Treasurer, WINSTON reported that there was approximately $50,00 left in the treasury and that some efforts must be made towards raising funds, The Committee felt that funds might be raised by asking prominent speakers to meet with a small group in a home and charge an admission fee. Dr. RUTMAN was to check on the possibility of Dr. PAUL BARAN's availability for such a meeting. ~ 8B - 103663 b7D
