LOB ANGELES, Aug. 6.—J. Edgar
director of the Federal Buread 6
thoroughly agrees with Bill Veeck in his sug-
gestion that baseball bonuses be curtalled and «
common pool be formed for drafting young talent.
Hoover, who is at nearby La Jolla for his
aQnnual physical check-up. believes that Veeck's
recent articles, "I Know Who's Killing Base-
ball,” which were published in The Hearst News-
papers, were constructive, particularly concera-
ing the bonus and common draft.
“It makes good soynd senas to me,” Hoover
said, “for all of the major | e clubs to peol
their resources and have theif ggouts recammend
young pesebell: talent for a common draft. °
“Competition—falr, open -and vigorcus—tia
the backbone of our American system. It is what \
we call free enterprise, and there should be no :
place for monopoly in sports, any more than any |
other business.” .
