This addiction, this habit of settling endless things, from the spelling of « name to the title of
a song, by a quick look-see at an appropriate entry, goes back to my childhood, when I made
REVISED: Over 43,000 concise, up-to-the-minute daily-reference-useful biographies, each diligendy
revised and brought down to date. Increased content—more listings than heretofore—made
possible by typographical innovation. Printed—-for the first time—by the latest Lithographic
processes.
AUGMENTED: Over 5,000 entirely new sketches, never before appearing in Wuo's Wo. of out-
standing, today’s headline-news, diving Americans — men and women — and notable foreigners

SCOPE: The “in America” in WHO's WHO IN AMERICA is used in its established western conti-
nental meaning —the Western Hemisphere — carefully selected groupings representative of
Canada and Latin America being listed.
PRONUNCIATION: Pronunciation of difficult — “hard-+o-say” —
names is given in che first line of sketches, directly after the
name. The standard diacritical symbols are used throughout.
$1ZE: Over 2,900 pages, but in a still “taller and thinner” size than
that introduced several issues ago—easier to handle, better suited
to shelving requirements, 1044 inches high, 7% inches wide, 234
inches thick.
