mam, named Jonn Ed-ar Hoover, into the fob of Director of the then
ratner incenspicuous Federal Bureau of Investigition. In this thirty
years there hee crown up an agency of this United States Government
which is known around the world for its perfection in tracking of crime,
criminals, spies, and subversives, and the young man (now still young
at 59! h+s lived to hear Senator Pat McCarran of Nevada say in a Senate
speech last Wednesday that John fdeear Hoover is csne of the greatest
living Anericans and "an irreplseceable man in government if there ever
was cone."
Tn tre thirty years the world has learned to respect and depend
on those young men who heve been taken into the fraternity of the FBI
and trained to perfection. They have become known as the G-Men, the
subject of beols, stories, plays and fabulous doings in the world of
fiction, but as T have seen them at work snd have become acquainted
with Mr. Hoover, I would say that no fiction can equal the thrill and
the sure fire perfection of the agencys of the FBI.
Hoover hinself is founded on the granite‘*rocks of a firm belief in
God and of the Constitution of the United States. He is Americaniem
in every breath, also a perfecticnist. He had a hard young life. It
was no eineh for him to work his way into the old FFI, because he had
to have a c.liere degree, and the wey he got one wae by earning $30
amonth ss a messenger and roing to night law school and efter his
degree he tot into the Department of Justice.
