Hoover and his great organization are worthy of this and many other honors"
Gonpresezan wichener adds, "J. Edgar Hoover is doing an outstanding job,
and I believe the country will be pleased to do honor to him."
The objection to considerstion of the bill was to the type of bill rather
ie the substance of the bill. ‘’r. Taber, who objected to present con~-

sideretion of tne bill remarked, "Ur. Hoover is my warm personal friend.
tT admire him as mach as anyone. But I do not think it is the thing for us
to do to award medals to anyone in the civilian service or out of the
civilian service, to anyone except those in the military service.*
Ur. Walter states, "The name of John Edgar Hoover will take its place
alongside of the names of the other great men of this Nation when the
history of this era is recorded and thet awarding of this medal will not s
one bit to its honor."
