Hoover.
Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representa-
tives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,
That the President is authorized to present, in the name of
Congress, a medal of honor to J. Edgar Hoover, Director
of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who, by his untiring
devotion to duty and with the assistance of the officers and
employees of such Bureau, apprehended and took into
custody numerous enemy agents, saboteurs, and fifth col-
umnists during the month of June 1942, thereby affording
great protection to his country and its citizens and effecting
a telling blow in the prosecution of the war.
