I had eccasion to write you a few days ago thanking you, as
President ef the Alabeme Gheriffe' and Pease Officers’ Association,
for the eooperation exhibited at all times and pertioularly during
the meeting of the association during the recent past toward all of
the representatives of this Bureau with wham they have come in con-
tact and with myself, as the Bureeu head.
I am now in receipt of your letter of Janmary 3%, quoting a

ay adnisistretion of the United States Buareen of Tavestigqnticoa. T cant
you to know how much J appreciate these words of praise and conmmenda-
tion. I feel that praise and endorseme:t from practical police
efficials engaged daily in the most important veestion of ecmbating —---—--
erine is af real significance and more gratifying than any commendation
Which might be received frem those less versed in the problem isherant
in lew enforcement. TI do sonsider it an honor to have been the ond fost
ef this resolutions. Zt ie a real satisfaction to receive this highly
flattering ecmment from such leeding representatives of law and erder
as yourself and your sasosiates. I feel thet the leng yoars of struggle
fer effective seoperetien on the part ef this Govermental agency vith
law enforcement efficials throughout the scuntry have aot beam in vain,
in view of the reeeipt ef this teen of appreciation from your erganise-
tion. May I emphasize my desire to continue cooperating to the fullest |
possible extent with you and your associates in accomplishing the most
_eomprehensive-_progrem possible -ef Federal and -8tete
to more effectively thereby serve the interests of the law abiding citizen-
ry ef the ecuntry. Our aims and ideals are the sane and I feel that we
should work in ¢lose harmony and sooperative endeavor for the purpose of
